Ingredients

For 6 servings:

– Brown sugar: 145 g
– Flour: 100 g
– Baking powder: 1 packet
– Lukewarm milk: 150 ml
– Peanut oil: 2 tablespoons
– Eggs: 2
– Elstar apples: 4
– Parchment paper: 1 sheet
– Semi-salted butter: 75 g

Preparation

Dough Preparation

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 100 g of flour, 1 packet of baking powder, and 70 g of brown sugar.
2. Make a well in the center and crack in 1 egg.
3. Gently mix from the center outward, gradually incorporating the dry ingredients.
4. As the dough begins to thicken, gradually add the lukewarm milk and then the oil, mixing until smooth.
5. Peel the 4 apples and cut them into thick slices.
6. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
7. Butter a round cake pan that is 5 cm high.
8. Cut a circle of parchment paper to fit the bottom of the pan and place it in the center.
9. Cut strips of parchment paper 5 cm high and line the sides of the pan with them.
10. Arrange the apple slices in the pan and pour the batter over them.
11. Bake in the middle of the oven for 30 minutes.

Preparing the Topping

1. While the cake is baking, melt 75 g of butter in the microwave or in a saucepan.
2. Once melted and cooled slightly, mix in 75 g of brown sugar and 1 egg until well combined.
3. After the cake has baked for 30 minutes, pour this mixture over the cake and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes to caramelize the topping.
