Preakness Stakes 2013: Itsmyluckyday Heads to Pimlico

Itsmyluckyday and jockey John Velazquez will run in the 138th running of the Preakness Stakes on May 18, 2013.

Itsmyluckyday is making his way to Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland from Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport, New Jersey. Our biggest question…is Itsmyluckyday traveling with a Preakness hat like he did on his way to the Kentucky Derby? The Edward Plesa, Jr. trained colt will attempt to win the second jewel of the Triple Crown on Saturday May 18, 2013 in the 138th running of the Preakness Stakes.

Itsmyluckyday’s owner Laurie Plesa said, “Itsmyluckyday worked in between the 3rd and 4th races at Monmouth Park yesterday (Sunday May 12th), and worked great!

Jockey John Velazquez will take over the mount for regular rider Elvis Trujillo for the 2013 Preakness Stakes.

Itsmyluckyday finished 15th in the 2013 Kentucky Derby just a little over a week ago. The muddy track was definitely to blame for Itsmyluckyday’s luckless performance. On a dry fast track the three-year-old colt is unstoppable. Itsmyluckyday finished second to Orb in the Besilue Florida Derby, finished first in the Holy Bull Stakes, and placed first in the Gulfstream Park Derby. Itsmyluckyday could be Kentucky Derby winner Orb’s greatest challenge in the 2013 Preakness Stakes.
