Decadent Chocolate Fondant with Apple Compote (Butter-Free Recipe!)

A Surprising Pairing

I never would have thought to combine these ingredients if it weren’t for an excess of homemade applesauce and my youngest child’s persistent requests for a chocolate fondant. I drew inspiration from three different recipes to create this delightful fusion…

Ingredients

– Servings: 6

– Apples: 4
– Lemon juice: A few drops
– Unsweetened commercial apple sauce: 200g
– Dark chocolate: 90g
– Sugar: 90g
– Eggs: 3
– Flour: 90g
– Baking powder: 1/2 packet

Preparation

Total Time

– 55 minutes

Prep Time

Cooking Time

– 25 minutes

1. Making Homemade Apple Sauce

If you don’t have leftover apple sauce, start by making some: Peel, core, and slice the apples into quarters. Add a few drops of lemon juice and simmer in a saucepan over low heat for about 20 minutes. Once the apples are cooked, blend them with an immersion blender until smooth. Set aside.

2. Preheating the Oven and Melting the Chocolate

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Melt the broken pieces of chocolate in the microwave with a bit of water.

3. Preparing the Egg, Sugar, and Flour Mixture

In a mixing bowl, whisk the sugar and eggs together until smooth. Add the flour and baking powder, mixing thoroughly.

4. Final Mixing, Controlled Baking, and Cooling the Fondant

Add the melted chocolate to the mixture and stir well, then incorporate the apple sauce. Mix again. Pour the batter into a greased and floured baking mold. Bake for 25 minutes, making sure the center remains slightly undercooked.

To Finish

Allow the fondant to cool completely before indulging without restraint!
