Final Full Card Los Alamitos Picks Saturday, July 12, 2014

Final Full Card Los Alamitos Picks Saturday, July 12, 2014: Los Alamitos Summer Thoroughbred Festival finishes up this weekend with three stakes races. The big Kahuna, the Great Lady M Stakes for fillies and mares for a purse of $200,000, is to be contested this Saturday, July 12, 2014. Saturday’s card has small fields and hopefull we’ll see a few nice prices hit. Next weekend Del Mar opens where I’ll be capping the full card Saturday as well. So, let’s try to pick some winners this weekend.

Los Alamitos Full Card

Heir Kitty and Joe Talamo enter race #7 at Los Alamitos on Saturday, July 12, 2014 for the Great Lady M Stakes.

Race #1: 1
Hamiltonian is the fastest horse of the field, and he drops in class. His new trainer has a good percentage with claimers.
Race #2: 4,3
Next Book lost by a neck as the favorite in his last race, with a good speed figure. Now with Mike Smith up, he’ll be very tough to beat. Shaniel is a first time starter; he has the best works of the field and if he runs like he works, he can beat the favorite.
Race #3: 1,6,5
Wine Country Wanda should appreciate the two turns and the Alamitos long stretch. Stracciatella was a distant second in her last, but recorded good workouts since that effort. Warren’s Fantasy*has some decent races at Santa Anita in the mile and her last race was better than the paper says. *She’s the value of the race.
Race #4: 6,4
Senor Rain didn’t show his best in his last race coming of a layoff, but after that effort he’s working like a monster. He has hot Joe Talamo in the irons. The second choice is Dynamo Dixie, he is moving up in class however, he is on a winning streak. His new trainer usually wins the first time after he claims a horse.
Race #5: 3,7
Rowdy Dylan has the best speed figures of the field. In his debut, he broke a bit slow; despite that trouble was able to finish second. Dr. Vincentstein has a pedigree for sprint races, and his last works in Los Alamitos track were pretty good.
Race #6: 3,7
Ghost N Your Heart drops in class and has Ignacio Puglisi a jockey who knows her very well, in the saddle again. Sizzling Lassie was second in her last race. Talamo stays in the irons and that I suppose is a bit of confidence.
Race #7: 4,1
Heir Kitty is in top form for this race. A hot pace is expected, and that should benefit her. Tres Belle is the “now” filly and Garcia/Baffert combo is always dangerous.
Race #8: 4
In a very weak field, Doubledeesonthetee looks like the horse to beat. If there’s no trouble in the race, the “strange name” horse should win this race.

Remember everyone, it’s impossible to hit all the races, so just bet in the ones you are confident!
