Black-Eyed Susan Stakes flavored with Bobby Flay Filly

Black-Eyed Susan Stakes flavored with Bobby Flay Filly: The Black-Eyed Susan Stakes features eleven 3-year-old fillies including America. Celebrity chef, restaurateur, and well-known television personality Bobby Flay owns America. America is trained by William Mott and teams up with jockey John Velazquez in the 90th Running of the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes.

America comes into the 2014 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes with 8-1 morning line odds. The daughter of A.P. Indy has raced five times throughout her life winning once at Belmont Park in a Maiden Special Weight on October 9, 2013. Last out, America finished 3rd in the G2 Gulfstream Oaks on March 29th just behind In Tune and House Rules. John Velazquez has been onboard America for her last two races.

So why bet on America in the 2014 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes? Sources reveal America (8-1) looks amazing during recent dirt track training sessions at Saratoga. On May 12th the filly breezed four furlongs at 48:44 and was ranked 1/31. A few backside “experts” tell Lady and The Track America is the gal to bet on for the 2014 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes.

Winning the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes will be no easy task for Bobby Flay’s three-year-old filly despite the backside chatter. America will go up against Stopchargingmaria (7-2), who won the Demoiselle Stakes and the Tempted Stakes. Euphrosyne (4-1) will also give America a run for her money. Euphrosyne won the Honeybee Stakes and finished 3rd in the Fantasy Stakes. Also in the 2014 Black-Eyes Susan Stakes starting gate is Joint Return (15-1), Shanon Nicole (6-1), Arethusa (8-1), Le Mejor Fiesta (20-1), Sloan Square (5-1), Fortune Pearl (12-1), Vero Amore (15-1), and Image of Anna (20-1).

The Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes takes place at Pimlico Race Course on Friday, May 16, 2014 just one day before the Preakness Stakes. The sister race to the Preakness Stakes is also known as the 2nd jewel of the Triple Crown for fillies, just after the Kentucky Oaks and before the Acorn Stakes, even though the 90th Running of the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes lacks any contenders that competed in the 2014 Kentucky Oaks. The 2014 $500,000 1 1/8 miles Black-Eyed Susan Stakes is the 10th race of the day on May 16th with an approximate post time of 4:47 PM ET. The Fray, Counting Crowns, and Annie Bosko fill the day with concerts at Pimlico Race Course for Black-Eyed Susan Day in additions to a jockey meet & greet, book signings, and fashion show.

Black-Eyed Susan Day also features the Pimlico Special Stakes for older males and includes a few superstar horses we all know and love such as Bourbon Courage, Moreno, and Revolutionary.
