Maggie Mae Designs and Old Friends Auction “Rapid Redux” to Benefit Retired Horses

Maggie Mae Designs and Old Friends are once again auctioning off a beautiful derby hat to benefit retired racehorses in need. This is the fourth annual “Hats Off To The Horses: The Road To The Derby” which is a unique online derby hat auction benefiting Old Friends. The Rapid Redux derby hat auction is the first auction out of a six auction series to take place this year. The millinery is designed by world famous hat designer Sally Faith Steinmann, of MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS.

The first “ Hats Off To The Horses: The Road To The Derby” hat auction will specifically honor retired racehorse Rapid Redux. The bidding is now open for a beautiful hat lovingly named “Rapid Redux”; a 6-year-old retired gelding that currently holds the North American record for winning 22 consecutive thoroughbred races.

Sally Faith Steinmann shared a reflecting story on the Old Friends website stating “The Rapid Redux hat design celebrates a truly great racehorse whose achievements were the result of a team that was determined to make a major contribution to Thoroughbred horse racing. To honor this athlete and his 22 consecutive wins, the distinctive pink and yellow racing silks of owner Robert Cole, Jr’s racing stable provide the primary color inspiration for the trimmings of this stunning Derby hat and are the recurring theme throughout the design.”

The purpose of this amazing millinery is to honor the life of Rapid Redux and all of the horses who, thanks to the generosity of those who support their aftercare, now graze in the warm sunshine of Dream Chase Farm for the rest of their lives.
