Mother Goose Stakes 2013: Dreaming of Julia & Close Hatches

Dreaming of Julia and Jockey John Velazquez will break from pp#2 in the 2013 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park.

The Mother Goose Stakes takes place Saturday June 22, 2013 at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. The 1 1/16 mile dirt race is for three-year-old fillies and offers a $300,000 purse. Five talented fillies grace the Mother Goose Stakes field including Gulfstream Oaks winner Dreaming of Julia and fan favorite Close Hatches.

Dreaming of Julia, with 2/1 odds for the 2013 Mother Goose Stakes, finished 4th in the 2013 Kentucky Oaks while Close Hatches finished 7th. Dreaming of Julia finished 2nd in the Davona Dale Stakes at Gulfstream Park behind the late filly Live Lively. Live Lively finished 2nd behind Dreaming of Julia in the 2013 Gulfstream Oaks. Live Lively would of been a strong contender in the Mother Goose Stakes but she met her demise on May 4, 2013 due to an untreatable injury.
