Tampa Bay Derby 2015; Equine Stars and Fashionable Stripes: Across the country from the festivities at Santa Anita, the 2015 Tampa Bay Derby will be run this Saturday, March 7, at Tampa Bay Downs. Like the featured San Felipe Stakes at “The Great Race Place,” the Tampa Bay Derby is part of the trail to the Kentucky Derby. This edition of the Tampa Bay Derby boasts nine talented three-year-old colts going 1 1/16 miles for a $350,000 purse and 50 points towards a position in the Churchill Downs starting gate.

What to do at the 2015 Tampa Bay Derby…

Before the big race, guests can enjoy teeing off at the Tampa Bay Downs state-of-the-art Golf Practice Facility where a staff of PGA Class A professionals will be available to assist you in perfecting your game. Following the race, guests can enjoy The Silks Poker Room on the Tampa Bay Downs grounds.

Tampa Bay Downs also has a Race Day all-inclusive package for groups that includes admission, free parking, a daily racing program, reserved seating, a race named in honor of your group, a meal, tax, and gratuity.

If you are not traveling in a group, Tampa Bay Downs still has plenty to offer. The Sky Terrace offers a great view of the track while providing its famous cheesecake and key lime pie along with appetizers, specialty sandwiches, and a weekly featured Sunday Brunch. Reservations are recommended for The Sky Terrace, and a dress code is enforced.

For a more low-key atmosphere, guests can enjoy the Riders Up Bar featuring craft beers, cocktails, and a front-row seat to the finish line.
