Kentucky Oaks 2013: Pure Fun

“I saw Pure Fun while at the barn the other day at feed time. She looks healthy and happy!” ~Sue McPeek commenting on 2013 Kentucky Oaks contender Pure Fun.

“I saw Pure Fun while at the barn the other day at feed time. She looks healthy and happy!” ~Sue McPeek on 2013 Kentucky Oaks contender Pure Fun.

Pure Fun galloped around the Churchill Downs track yesterday in preparation for the Kentucky Oaks on Friday May 3, 2013. The three-year-old filly enters the Kentucky Oaks with 20 Leaderboard points. Pure Fun is said to be looking great and is ready to make a run for the lilies!

Pure Fun is trainer Kenny McPeek’s sole Kentucky Oaks contender. He also trains two of the twenty Kentucky Derby contenders, Java’s War and Frac Daddy. Pure Fun’s most recent race was the Lexington Stakes on April 20th where she was the only filly on the field and placed 7th amongst the boys. Trainer Kenny McPeek stated Pure Fun needed that race and looked at it as an “afternoon workout.”

With twelve races under her belt, three of which she finished first, Pure Fun has a lot of experience on her side. Experts claim Pure Fun runs best on dirt and has blossomed greatly since switching from the turf. Our insiders tell us that Pure Fun loves the Churchill Downs track!

Jockey Rosie Napravnik will be aboard Pure Fun for the 2013 Kentucky Oaks. Rosie won the 2012 Kentucky Oaks aboard Believe You Can.

Pure Fun is owned by Magdalena Racing, which consists of Sue McPeek and six other owners.

Sue McPeek commented on Pure Fun saying, “I saw Pure Fun while at the barn the other day at feed time. She looks healthy and happy!”

Sue McPeek added, “I’m glad she has a very nice group of owners in Rusty Jones, Peter Edwards, Paul Edwards, Dean Demaree, Dan MacMillan, and Steve McCully. The filly was well named, she has been PURE FUN!”

Lady and The Track had a chance to sit down with Kenny McPeek for a quick Q&A to talk more about Pure Fun.
