Kentucky Oaks Road Continues with Delta Downs Princess: The 13th running of the Delta Downs Princess takes place on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015 at Delta Downs Race Track in Vinton, LA. The one-mile Grade III $400,000 race for two-year-old fillies awards the top four finishers with points on the 2016 Kentucky Oaks Trail. The Delta Downs Princess is the 6th race of the day just before the $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot for two-year-old males on the Kentucky Derby Trail.

Delta Downs Princess morning line favorite La Appassionata (3-5) is trained by Steve Asmussen and owned by Stonestreet Stables. The two-year-old filly is currently two-for-two after winning the My Trusty Cat Stakes by a whopping seven lengths on Oct. 23, 2015 at Delta Downs. Experts agree La Appassionata will repeat the impressive performance on the Delta Downs track this Saturday.

In addition to La Appassionata, six other fillies will take to the Delta Downs starting gate including Angelita, Learning Curve, Jet Black Magic, Above Fashion, Shesthewinner and Charlie’s Pal.

After winning the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, Take Charge Brandi and jockey Paco Lopez took home the Delta Downs Princess win in 2014 for trainer D. Wayne Lukas. This year, Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies champion Songbird plans another route on the 2016 Kentucky Oaks Trail.

Ten Kentucky Oaks points will be awarded to the first place finisher of the Delta Downs Princess, four points for the second place finisher, two points for third place, and one point for the fourth place finisher.
