Square face shapes can benefit from a large, round, floppy hat. Keep the brim and the top of the hat round, and make sure to stay away from angles. The roundness of the hat will help soften your face. Think of a floppier and rounder version of the traditional Derby hat.

For those who have a heart-shaped face, try a wide brimmed hat with a flatter top. Since your face already comes to a point, you do not want to accentuate it by choosing a hat that is also pointy.

For a long face, choose a hat that comes over on your forehead a little bit. Normally we try not to cut off our faces, but in this case, cutting off a little bit of your face will help soften and shorten your face in a positive way.

A round face looks best with an angled hat because a soft and floppy hat only accentuates the roundness of such a face. A structured and angled look helps balance out the roundness. You could even try a very tall and sharp fascinator which would help draw the eye upward and elongate your face.

Whichever hat you choose, make sure that it is the opposite of your face shape. In other words, you are trying to balance out the shape of your face and provide some sort of contrast. This creates visual interest and keeps everything looking balanced and pleasing to the eye.
