Kentucky Derby Travel Tips; Where to Shop with Winnings: Watching the races at Churchill Downs isn’t the only thing to do while you are visiting Louisville, KY for the Kentucky Derby. Louisville also boasts some great shopping.

For a great local feel try the historic Frankfort Avenue where you can support local small businesses and take your pick from some great local restaurants while visiting Louisville for the Kentucky Derby.

First, in true southern fashion, there are some great places to go antiquing and find some old southern charm. Two great places to try are the Louisville Antique Mall, with over a hundred sellers that house antique and rare finds. Another option is the Derby City Antique Mall. The vendors there have a lot of experience and can help you purchase that unique find even if you are a novice at shopping for antiques.

Louisville also boasts some great boutiques where you can find interesting pieces that you can’t find in mass retail stores. If you like the vintage feel in your attire, try out Elizbeth’s Timeless Attire which houses retro vintage pieces that will help you look like one of a kind or The Nitty Gritty which has great pricing and vintage style.

For high end items Try out the Peacock Boutique for designer labels like Missoni and Marchesa or Circe which has high end beauty products. If you need a look for race day try out Clodhoppers which houses some great sundresses and shift dresses from designers like alice + Olivia and Trina Turk.

For a traditional mall experience try out the Mall St. Matthews or the Oxmoor Mall, this is one of the more prestigious malls in Louisville. Louisville also has the Jefferson Mall. The Summit Mall is a newer mall in the Louisville area with many major brand outlet stores. There is also the Factory Stores of America if you like Outlet shopping.
