Royal Ascot 2012 Fashion
The 2012 Royal Ascot is definitely the most fashionable horse race in the entire world. Compared to the hats of the KentuckyDerby or the Dubai World Cup Stakes, London’s Royal Ascot wins the prize for the most glamorous horseracing event.
New rules were enforced this year to the 2012 Royal Ascot’s dress code. According to the official website, “Fascinators are no longer permitted in the Royal Enclosure; neither are headpieces which do not have a base covering a sufficient area of the head (4 inches / 10cm).” This is further emphasized in the General Admission area with firm instructions that, “A hat, headpiece or fascinator should be worn at all times.” In addition to the new hat rules, women must wear modest mid-length skirts, no spaghetti straps or off the shoulder dresses.
The annual Royal Ascot takes place in the third week of June. The five-day “fashion show” and pageantry was implemented by Queen Anne in 1711. The fashionistas of the 2012 Royal Ascot have inspired Americans to step it up a notch for the 2013 Triple Crown!
