The Fashionable Fusion of Laura Smet: Elegance, Rock ‘n’ Roll, and a Japanese Twist

While she has sported many daring outfits for public appearances, her parents had strict rules about what she could wear during her younger years. It was her mother, Nathalie Baye, who picked out her outfits for school. These choices were not always well-received by a 14-year-old Laura. “A proper outfit, of course, something you might find at Benetton,” she mentioned. Laura’s secret tactic for wearing what she wanted? “I’d pack other clothes in my bag, like a tartan skirt and high white socks, and change in the elevator,” she revealed. However, this strategy was short-lived as her parents eventually caught on. “And I got scolded!” added the daughter of Johnny Hallyday.
Laura Smet credits her distinctive fashion sense to the styles of her famous parents. “My mother was elegant, quite classic, never tacky, while my father was very conscious about his appearance, though in a different way,” she shared. This blend of influences has given the French actress a refined perspective on fashion.
“Having style, to me, means being confident in your own style. When it’s too much, when there are too many logos, too many brands, it doesn’t work,” the mother confessed. She prefers to invest in quality pieces, embracing a philosophy inspired by Japanese fashion.
“I love fine cuts, fine materials, clothes that are timeless, often with a hint of Japanese fashion,” the 42-year-old actress explained, who consistently avoids fashion faux pas by adhering to this style principle.
