Oh no, this isn’t just good… it’s EXCEPTIONALLY DELICIOUS! Rustic bread, the smoky flavor of bacon, the sweetness of caramelized onions, and the meltiness of raclette cheese come together perfectly to create a burst of flavors in your mouth. Easy to prepare, this hearty dish will delight both kids and adults after a day on the slopes.

Ingredients

For 4 people:

– 8 slices of rustic bread (organic loaf recommended)
– 16 slices of bacon
– 3 onions
– 6 pinches of sugar
– 16 slices of raclette cheese

Preparation

1. First things first, to really get into the spirit of making these Savoyard-style sandwiches, why not put on a beanie, some snow boots, and maybe a pair of mittens (though they might make cooking a bit clumsy)… Now you’re all set!

Start by peeling and finely chopping the onions.
In a good non-stick skillet over low heat, without adding any fat, cook the onions for about ten minutes.
They will soften gently without burning. Stir regularly.
Towards the end of cooking, sprinkle in the sugar and stir well. This will help the onions caramelize and taste even better…

In another pan, still without any added fats, brown the bacon slices on both sides! We don’t hold back in this kitchen!

To Finish

Heat your kitchen grill (or use a sandwich maker or the oven’s broiler). Oh, the excitement is starting to build!
Take a slice of bread, lay down 4 slices of bacon along its length, top with a generous helping of caramelized onions… and finally, add 2 slices of raclette cheese!!
Cover with another slice of bread. Repeat the process for the other three sandwiches.
