Could your wardrobe be the key to better well-being? This study suggests that “Dopamine dressing” might just be the trend to follow for an immediate mood boost. Here are the details.
A Simple Change in Your Closet Could Boost Your Confidence and Well-being
As the number of French people seeking therapy continues to grow, it turns out that there might be a straightforward way to regain confidence and enhance well-being right in our closets.
Whether it’s due to current events, the weather, or personal issues, it’s not always easy to keep spirits high. However, a simple remedy has shown remarkable results: carefully selecting our outfits. This insight comes from a survey conducted by OpinionWay for Freedent and their Refreshers line on May 14 and 15, 2025, involving a representative sample of 1014 French adults aged 18 and older. The findings reveal that 90% of Gen Z respondents feel their attire directly impacts their mood. The survey also indicates that 89% of French people prefer clothing that boosts their confidence, while 80% believe their outfit directly affects their well-being. It appears that colors play a significant role in influencing mood.
Embrace the “Dopamine Dressing” Trend
Enter “Dopamine dressing,” the perfect solution for lifting your spirits. This trend involves wearing brightly colored clothing to stimulate dopamine, known as the happiness hormone. The survey highlights several favorite colors among participants.
Red is seen as the color of confidence (by one in five respondents), yellow represents joy (15%), and blue is calming and reassuring, especially in stressful situations (for 32% of the participants). So, it’s time to ditch the black, white, or gloomy shades and go all-in on vibrant colors!
