– Grated Gruyère cheese: 100 g
For the Meat Filling
– Ground beef: 500 g
– Onion: 1
– Shallot: 1
– Garlic cloves: 2
– Carrot: 1
– Butter: 25 g
– Salt: 1 teaspoon
– Pepper: 1 teaspoon
Instructions

Vegetable Preparation
Mince the onion, garlic, and shallot. Peel and finely dice the carrot. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small pieces.

Boil the potatoes in salted water or milk (watch closely as milk may boil over) for about 30 minutes.

Sauté the carrot in butter for 1 minute, then add the onion, garlic, and shallot and cook for another minute.

Add the ground beef to the pan. Season with salt and pepper and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or ricer. Incorporate the butter, milk, cream, and a generous pinch of salt. Mix well.
Assembling the Shepherd’s Pie
Layer the cooked meat in a baking dish and cover with the mashed potatoes. Top with grated cheese. Bake in a very hot oven for 10 minutes and broil for 2 minutes to brown the top.
