For the Tomato Sauce
– Onion: 1 unit
– Garlic: 1 clove
– Diced Tomatoes: 1 can
– Basil: a few leaves
For the Tart
– Puff Pastry: 1 sheet
– Ham: 4 slices
– Mozzarella: 1 ball
Instructions
1. **For the Tomato Sauce:**
– Finely chop the onion and sauté in a tablespoon of olive oil. Add minced garlic and canned diced tomatoes. Cook for 5 minutes.
2. – Puree the tomato mixture and reduce for about 15 minutes until it thickens enough to coat a spoon. Stir in chopped basil.
3. – Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking mold with the puff pastry, keeping the parchment paper on. Prick the base of the tart with a fork and spread the tomato sauce over it.
4. – Arrange half of the ham slices over the sauce and cover with thin slices of mozzarella.
To Finish
– Scatter the remaining pieces of ham over the top. Bake in the oven for 5 minutes at 350°F (180°C). Once the mozzarella has melted, cover with aluminum foil and bake for another 20 minutes at 425°F (220°C).
