Eurovision: A Fusion of Music and Fashion
Eurovision is recognized not only as a musical contest but also as a major fashion event. This year, the organizers have enlisted a designer who has styled some of the biggest celebrities around.
Anticipation Builds for Eurovision 2025
Since its inception in 1956, Europe eagerly anticipates Eurovision each year. In 2024, the Swiss artist Nemo clinched the title, setting the stage for the next event to be hosted in Switzerland. Scheduled to take place in Basel from Tuesday, May 13 to Saturday, May 17, 2025, the excitement is already building.
Representing France will be Louane with her song “Maman,” which she performed at Stade de France on March 15. For this event, French singer Louane will be outfitted by the renowned designer Rabanne. The head costume designer for Eurovision 2025 is also Swiss, known for creating the outfits for the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, including the iconic Golden Voyager character. This designer has a star-studded clientele, having dressed celebrities like Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Ashley Park in the series “Emily in Paris.”
Instagram posts from GERMANIER (@kevingermanier) hint at the involvement of Swiss designer Kevin Germanier, who will be dressing the presenters of this edition. Given his vibrant, explosive style, audiences can expect a spectacular showcase of fashion.
Kevin Germanier: A Bold Leap into Haute Couture
Germanier, who has been deeply involved in ready-to-wear fashion, recently ventured into haute couture and is set to debut his first show on January 30, 2025. His collection, titled “Les Globuleuses,” features 25 looks that are as vibrant and psychedelic as they are unique, drawing inspiration from Bree Van de Kamp of Desperate Housewives—imagine her under the influence of mushrooms. This collection promises an explosion of colors, materials, splendor, and glitter, with silhouettes that are anything but ordinary.
Another Instagram post from GERMANIER (@kevingermanier) reveals more about the designer’s distinctive approach.
Commitment to Upcycling
Germanier is also a master of upcycling. His latest collection has been crafted from reclaimed pieces. “This season, along with creating garments from recycled elements like beads or sequins, I’ve also repurposed jackets from Dior or Saint Laurent to give them a new life. Just because I’m moving into haute couture doesn’t mean I’ll stop upcycling—that would be foolish!” he explained to Le Monde.
The outfits for Eurovision 2025 are set to be eclectic and impressive. However, fans will have to wait another month and a half to see the final creations. The anticipation for what is bound to be a dazzling display of fashion and music continues to build.
