Churchill Downs After Dark 4th Annual White Party: The 2014 Stephen Foster Handicap is set to take place this Saturday, June 14th, at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Race day is sure to be a fun filled event, but the race is not the only exciting thing that day, or night rather. The Churchill Downs Race Track features Downs After Dark. The Downs After Dark is a party right on the track and there are often different themes. It is a unique and exciting twist to watching live horse racing. An amazing party goes on while race goers get to watch the thoroughbred horse races at night.

Not only is the Stephen Foster Handicap on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Churchill Downs, the historic track will also host it’s 4th annual White Party.

At this year’s Stephen Foster Handicap, the Downs After Dark party will be the 4th Annual White Party. The gates open at 4:00PM and the first race of the day begins at 6PM with a total of five stakes races on the eleven race card. The cost of the event is a $10 cover charge and $20 per person for a Reserved Box Seat. For $25 dollars you can even get access to the New Terrace Lounge. The New Lounge features an outdoor lounge for those 21 and older, a live DJ, dancing, plenty of seating with a beautiful view of the track and food and cocktails. The New Terrace also features a VIP Cabana for $99 per person and comes with a 4 hour open bar and specialty gourmet creations by Chef David Danielson who is the Executive Chef at the Downs.

There will also be opportunities to win prizes at the Downs After Dark party. Thornotons is sponsoring a Bet or No Bet sweepstakes. Some party goers and racing fans will win an opportunity to either place a $1000 bet on the horse of their choice or take home a $100 gas gift card.

There is only one rule at the Downs After Dark White Party, to wear white of course! Usually everyone thinks of black as the color to wear for a sharp evening look, but white can be sharp, sleek, sexy, and fun too. It is night time though, so stay away from sundress looks and flouncy dresses. Also avoid daytime fabrics and prints like horizontal stripes and eyelet. White is right on for summer and is definitely on trend, but this is still a night time event after all. Try a sleek sheath dress or cocktail dress in white or an elegant long white maxi dress.

Choose a look that will take you through all five stakes races at Churchill Downs and into the night for the exclusive White Party to celebrate the day’s winnings.

Make sure to honor the rules of the party and keep your ensemble all white. Nude shoes go best with white all over or metallic, like gold or silver. To add dimension and color and to stand out let your accessories or makeup do the talking. Try a bold red lip or the on trend bright orange lip, or perhaps try bold jewelry. You can really pile on the jewelry when you are wearing all white. Go all out with a necklace and a bracelet or a bracelet like perhaps a gold cuff and long dangling gold earrings as well. Just make sure to stay away from wide brimmed hats. Although they are race wear appropriate, they are not night time appropriate. Opt for a smaller fascinator or even a pill box type of hat.
