Esquire Horseplayers Episode 7 Recap; Sunshine Sting: This episode the horseplayers are all headed to Hallandale Beach, FL just outside of Miami for another handicapping competition and potential qualifier for the big competition in Vegas.

Everyone except Rotondo, Jr. heads down to Gulfstream Park in the 7th episode of Horseplayers. We see another side to what Rotondo, Jr. does as he skips Gulfstream to work PR for the Breeders Cup. A cameo is even made by Conan O’Brian who Rotondo, Jr. has narrating a race to give publicity to the Breeders Cup. (Watch Conan O’Brian call a race at Santa Anita Park)

Meanwhile, the rest of the boys are at Gulfstream Park. Team Rotondo, Beychock, Conte, and Bernier are all still vying for a seat at Vegas. Cowboy Cox is handicapping as well, but his seat is already secure. Christian Hellmers, who has a secure seat, chose to opt out of the competition, but that doesn’t stop him from having a little R&R with a lady friend in Miami. It also doesn’t mean that Hellmers didn’t stir things up a little. As he has seemingly taken Bernier under his wing, his “help,” wasn’t wanted by Bernier. This isn’t the first time that Hellmers has tried to offer his help and cut a deal with a fellow horseplayer, but again, Hellmers found himself rejected. It seems that none of the horseplayers think it is much of a “deal” to give Hellmers a cut and control on picks or as Beychock calls it an “invasion of space.”

None of the horseplayers faired too well at Gulfstream Park in episode 7, leaving them all hungry for the Breeders Cup.
