Awesome Again Stakes; Handicapping From The Heart

Awesome Again Stakes; Handicapping From The Heart

The Awesome Again Stakes is the 10th race of the day at Santa Anita Park on Saturday, September 27, 2013 with a 5:30 PM PDT post time. The “Win and You’re In” Breeders’ Cup Challenge race showcases the biggest fan-favorites in horse racing such as Paynter and Mucho Macho Man.

If you’re a fan of Lady and The Track, you probably have a big heart for animals, especially horses. When you encounter a race that is hard to handicap, try to pick the winning horse with your heart! Maybe you like the way Paynter is full of fight or are lovingly described as a “die hard” Mucho Macho Man fan! Either way, sometimes it’s best to toss the numbers and figures aside and handicap the big race with your heart!

Trixies Pixes from the heart…
The Awesome Again Stakes is a GI 1 1/8 mile race for three-year-olds and up. Seven-year-old Jeranimo is the oldest of the ten Awesome Again Stakes contenders and is said to still be able to hold his own.

The experts have recently described the Kathy Ritvo trained Mucho Macho Man as “dull”. We’re no experts, but we strongly disagree! Mucho Macho Man may find his way into the Santa Anita winner’s circle for the first time with owners Reeves Thoroughbred Racing.

Paynter holds the world’s heart and it would be great to see this survivor cross the finish line first. Paynter likes a dry track and luckily the weather forecast predicts a 0% chance of rain. Go Paynter! If only trainer Bob Baffert would take our advice and drink a little whiskey tonight to relax.

You Know I Know is the local favorite and described as the “Little Horse That Could” around the LATT office. This four-year-old gelding has proved his worth after finishing 3rd behind Game One Dude and Kettle Corn in the TVG Pacific Classic on August 25th.

Lady and The Track would like to wish the contenders in the 2013 Awesome Again Stakes the best of luck. Good Luck! Safe Run! And remember ladies… never place a bet with your lover’s money. It’s simply bad luck!
