Weekend Recap; Palace Malice Has Talent: Palace Malice once again proved his abilities as a top thoroughbred racehorse by winning the Jim Dandy Stakes on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Saratoga Race Course. The three-year-old colt won the $600,000 dirt race with a time of 1:47.37.

Moreno, who broke from the gate right next to Palace Malice, held on strong all the way around the Saratoga Track but couldn’t close the deal in the end. Will Take Charge took charge and beat out Moreno finishing just behind the 2013 Belmont Stakes winner Palace Malice with jockey Mike Smith on the mount.

Todd Pletcher, who was the best-dressed man at Saratoga on Saturday, reported he is somewhat relieved Palace Malice is finally proving the skeptics wrong stating, “He is not a difficult horse to train,” Pletcher said. “It was just frustrating to see the results we were getting because we knew he was much better than that.”

Palace Malice and Will Take Charge have both been described as Saratoga’s “cream of the crop” and will likely race again together  in the Travers Stakes on Saturday, August 24, 2013.
