Race 3: 14 Hands Winery Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies

Trixie
Winner: Rachel’s Valentina
My Bet: Exacta #8, #10
Why: Rachel’s Valentina and Songbird should really kick off the first BC race on Saturday in an exciting way.

Reinier
Winner: #2 Tap to It
My bet: Unplayable
Why: Won prep race over Keeneland

Lizzy
Winner: Forever Darling
My Bet: #5 to win.
Why: It just sounds romantic.

Casey
Winner: #9 or #10 (Rachel’s Valentine or Songbird)
Bet: Boxing both #9 and #10
Why: I cannot separate them. They are worlds ahead of the rest of the field

Sigi
Winner: Songbird
My Bet: #8 Dothraki Queen to place
Why: Songbird offers no value, but she’ll either win or finish off the board. I’m using Dothraki Queen to get some value.

Jessica
Winner: Songbird
My Bet: Exacta with 10 and 7
Why: West Coast juveniles are going to rock the Breeders’ Cup.

Race 4: TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Sprint

Trixie
Winner: Lady Shipman
My Bet: #5 to place.
Why: The field is huge in this race, so I’ll play Lady Shipman to place.

Reinier
Winner: #12 Ready for Rye
My bet: Unplayable
Why: Loves turf sprints

Lizzy
Winner: Jimmy Bouncer
My Bet: #4 to win.
Why: Who doesn’t like sprinkles on their ice cream?

Casey
Winner: Lady Shipman (#5)
Bet: Boxing the #5 with #10 The Great War and #1 Pure Sensation
Why: Wide open field with a lot of fast horses. I’m going with Lady Shipman and a few longer shots in hopes of hitting the board with them.

Sigi
Winner: Undrafted
My Bet: I’m using 3,5,12 in a pick 3
Why: Undrafted might take advantage of a pace meltdown.

Jessica
Winner: Lady Shipman
My Bet: Win with #5
Why: Lady Shipman rather towers over this field in my mind.

Race 5: TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint

Trixie
Winner: Stonetastic
My Bet: Exacta Box: #7, #11
Why: I like Stonetastic in this race, but my heart still goes with Judy the Beauty.

Reinier
Winner: #7 Wavell Avenue
My bet: Win #7, Exacta (or Trifecta) Backwheel #3, #5, #6, #14 / #7
Why: Closed against speed bias at Belmont Park

Lizzy
Winner: Dame Dorothy
My Bet: #2 to win.
Why: That’s my grandma’s name.

Casey
Winner: #11 Judy the Beauty
Bet: Boxing #11 with Taris (#3) and Cavorting (#14)
Why: While Cavorting may end up being the best female sprinter for the Eclipse Awards, Judy the Beauty has only lost one start at Keeneland due to traffic problems. I don’t see that mistake happening again here.

Sigi
Winner: Kiss to Remember
My Bet: # 10 Kiss to Remember to win -place -show
Why: Kiss to Remember just needs to repeat her Ballerina Stakes effort to be in the mix.

Jessica
Winner: La Verdad
My Bet: Place with #4
Why: I really want to see La Verdad grab her first Grade I!

Race 6: Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf

Trixie
Winner: Miss France
My Bet: #9 to Show
Why: Out of all of the Irish imports, Miss France looks to be the one to beat.

Reinier
Winner: #2 Sentiero Italia
My bet: Win #2, Daily Double #2 / #11
Why: Wide trip cost her last time

Lizzy
Winner: Sharla Rae
My Bet: #4 to win.
Why: I think Sharla Rae may surprise the narrow-minded folks in the office.

Casey
Winner: Photo Call (#5)
My Bet: Boxing #5 Photo Call with Stephanie’s Kitten (#11) and (#9) Miss France
Why: I love the Europeans here which is why I am not backing my usual favorite in Stephanie’s Kitten. I was impressed by Photo Call last out.

Sigi
Winner: Legatissimo
My Bet: #11 Stephanie’s Kitten to place
Why: Legatissimo should be the heavy favorite. I’m using Stephanie’s Kitten because she is a fighter.

Jessica
Winner: Photo Call
My Bet: Win with #5
Why: Denali is consigning Photo Call in the November sale after the Breeders’ Cup, so I’d like for her to further improve her résumé before that!

Race 7: TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Sprint

Trixie
Winner: Runhappy
My Bet: #5 to win.
Why: There may not be much value in betting social media sensation Runhappy, but it feels good to root for a winner!

Reinier
Winner: #11 Barbados
My bet: See previous Daily Double
Why: Could get pace setup

Lizzy
Winner: Runhappy
My Bet: #5 to win.
Why: If you don’t like Runhappy, don’t even speak to me.

Casey
Winner: Runhappy (#5)
Bet: Putting $10 to win on #5 then playing a try box with Runhappy (#5), Private Zone (#13), Kobe’s Back (#2), and, Wild Dude (#8)
Why: Runhappy, simply put, is a freak!

Sigi
Winner: Salutos Amigos
My Bet: #10 Salutos Amigos to win-place
Why: Salutos Amigos drew a good post position and will fly late if the pace collapses.

Jessica
Winner: Runhappy
My Bet: Win with #5.
Why: He’s Runhappy.

Race 8: Breeders’ Cup Mile

Trixie
Winner: Tepin
My Bet: #7 to win.
Why: Another Casse trainee that should make for an exciting patriotic pick!

Reinier
Winner: #7 Tepin
My bet: Exacta box #5, #7, #11 or Daily Double #5, #7, #11 / #7
Why: Won by seven lengths over Keeneland turf

Lizzy
Winner: Mshawish
My Bet: #10 to win.
Why: My nail stylist/life coach likes the purple color.

Casey
Winner: Tepin (#7)
Bet: Boxing Tepin (#7), Grand Arch (#1), and Time Test (#12)
Why: Tepin and Grand Arch both have fantastic races over thiz surface. The turf won’t be as soft (I don’t think) as some of the Euros may like, but I am including Time Test as I like his previous form.

Sigi
Winner: Tepin
My Bet: #7 Tepin to win
Why: Tepin is unbeaten at one-mile races this year, and she looked marvelous in her last start.

Jessica
Winner: Tepin
My Bet: Win with #7
Why: With Beholder out of the Classic, Tepin has to win one for the girls.

Race 9: Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile

Trixie
Winner: Nyquist
My Bet: Exacta 13,5.
Why: Everyone is hot for Nyquist. I’ll add Cocked and Loaded to my play for value.

Reinier
Winner: #7 Brody’s Cause
My bet: See previous Daily Double
Why: Won local prep race over Keeneland dirt

Lizzy
Winner: Conquest Big E
My Bet: #1 to win.
Why: Picking this longshot bet because Norman Casse a nice, good-looking guy.

Casey
Winner: Brody’s Cause (#7)
Bet: Boxing Brody’s Cause (#7), Exaggerator (#9), and Greenpointcrusader (#3)
Why: I really believe that Nyquist has Juvenile Champion honors in the bag, win or lose here, and I really like what I saw from all three of these colts last out. Brody’s Cause will definitely continue to improve with age and distance, which is why I have him on top here.

Sigi
Winner: Swipe
My Bet: #12 Swipe to win – place
Why: With a clean trip, Swipe could be the winner at profitable odds.

Jessica
Winner: Nyquist
My Bet: Exacta Box with 13 and 9
Why: I’ve been a Nyquist fan since he broke his maiden, and I think he’s the best juvenile at the moment.

Race 10: Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf

Trixie
Winner: Golden Horn
My bet: Trifecta Box: 1,4,9
Why: I like all three to come in the money and feel confident in Golden Horn and Slumber.

Reinier
Winner: #4 Slumber
My bet: Unplayable
Why: Pretty horse

Lizzy
Winner: Cage Fighter
My bet: #8 to win.
Why: I like his name.

Casey
Winner: Golden Horn (#1)
Bet: Boxing #1 with The Pizza Man (#10) and Big Blue Kitten (#7)
Why: It was hard leaving Red Rifle out here, but Golden Horn looks to be the best turf horse in the world. He defeated Treve and Flintshire, which is enough to think he can defeat this field with relative ease.

Sigi
Winner: Golden Horn
My bet: #12 Ordak Dan to show
Why: He’s a big horse and a strong galloper. He’ll offer huge odds because he’s unknown.

Jessica
Winner: Slumber
My bet: Win with #4
Why: I like Slumber simply because I had a weird dream revolving around his name.

Race 11: Breeders’ Cup Classic

Trixie
Winner: American Pharoah
My Bet: Trifecta Box: 1,3,4
Why: Like the rest of America, I’d like to see American Pharoah go out with a bang, but the Triple Crown winner has his work cut out for him. Tonalist is a risky play, but I can’t resist the Clement trainee.

Reinier
Winner: #2 Keen Ice
My bet: Unplayable
Why: Much improved colt

Lizzy
Winner: American Pharoah
My Bet: #4 to win.
Why: American Pharoah all the way baby!

Casey
Winner: Honor Code (#9)
Bet: Boxing #9 with American Pharoah (#5) and Frosted (#3)
Why: Honor Code has been working a hole in the wind and acting like he never has before. I think we may see an Honor Code we have never seen before. As much as I want American Pharoah to win the “Grand Slam,” I have been behind Honor Code since his debut, and I won’t look back in what may be his final start.

Sigi
Winner: Honor Code
Why: The Kelso was just a prep, now we’ll see the real Honor Code.
My bet: Not playing this race.

Jessica
Winner: American Pharoah
My Bet: Not betting this one.
Why: He deserves to go out with an impressive, history-making win, and I’m pretty sure he will.

Kari
Winner: Smooth Roller SCRATCHED
My Bet: Win/Place #7
Why: He is fresh and has a shot to hit the board.
