To get yourself ready for the big race day, attend Sunrise Trackside at Keeneland. This event lasts from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and starts with breakfast with the works from 7:00 until 8:30 in the morning. This special activity includes breakfast in the trackside Equestrian Dining Room and costs only $7 per person while kids age three and under eat for free. Also, from 7:00 until 9:00 there will be children’s activities, including Kids Club Corner, which will have free children’s activities such as photos in jockey silks, face painting, games, a meet and greet with the Kids Club mascot Buckles for those who sign up for the Keeneland Kids Club, and more. This event will be located adjacent to the Equestrian Dining Room.

From 8:00 until 10:30, there will also be guided walking tours of Keeneland that will depart from the Welcome Wagon in the Paddock. There is also a Paddock Demonstration at 9:00 with a live educational equine demonstration in the saddling paddock. Following this, there will be a handicapping seminar at 11:30 and a Jockey Q&A with Joe Bravo at 12:05 in the Walking Ring. Best of all, reservations are not needed for these morning events.

Later in the day from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Keeneland will host The Hill, which is tailgating for race fans. Patrons can watch the race and wager on the live races in the tailgate lot. There will be a wagering tent, big screen TV, music, and local food trucks. There will also be a special showcase featuring some of Central Kentucky’s best bluegrass bands from noon until 4:00. The designated tailgating lot is adjacent to the Entertainment Center and Keene Barn. The lot is accessible through Gate 1, there is no charge, and there is complimentary shuttle service to the grandstand area available.

From breakfast to the races to tailgating, look your best in one of fall’s major colors, cadmium orange. This color has been seen all over fall runways and is also the perfect shade to celebrate the races and usher in the fall. This shade of orange is rich and saturated and is reminiscent of the changing fall leaves This color orange pairs well with nudes and metallic, but be sure to avoid wearing it with black so that you don’t look like a jack-o-lantern. Cadmium orange is the perfect way to celebrate both the start of fall and a great race day at Keeneland!
