Keeneland November Sales 2014; Book One: Now that Breeders’ Cup is over, the fall sales begin. Hip 2 – Taboo – Taboo is by Forestry, out of the Siberian Summer mare, Dream of Summer. While the mare was nothing special, Forestry has proved to be a decent broodmare sire. Offered here on an April 8th cover by Animal Kingdom, the mare should bring an honest price.

Hip 9 – Weanling Filly – This filly is apart of the first crop of Belmont Stakes hero Union Rags. The filly is out of the Distinctive Cat mare, Tizakitty. The mare would, ironically, be sent to the stallion that beat out her half brother, Paynter, in the Belmont Stakes. The weanling should have a good cross of speed and stamina.

Hip 53 – Weanling Colt – This colt is by rock star sire Super Saver, who has been very successful with his first crop of juveniles. The colt will likely draw more appeal, as he is out of the Point Given mare, Danzig Point, who is a half sister to prominent sire, Distorted Humor. Look for him to turn heads.

Hip 65 – Weanling Filly – This filly is by prominent sire Distorted Humor, out of the young Hard Spun mare, Easterette. With a lot of family on both sides, this filly is heavy on the distaff side. Easterette is a half sister to Horse of the Year, Havre de Grace. Havre de Grace is out of the mare, Toll Fee, who is a half sister to champion sprinter Plugged Nickle. Toll Fee also produced many broodmares, including Settling Mist, who produced Belmont Stakes winner Tonalist.

Hip 66 – Egg Drop – Egg Drop is in the sale, consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency. Egg Drop was an exceptional race mare, as she was a multiple graded stakes winner, including the G1 Matriarch and the G2 Goldikova Stakes. Egg Drop retired and was sent on to be a mom. Offered here, on an April 13th cover by Tapit, Egg Drop should command a good price.

Hip 99 – Home Court – Home Court was not an exceptional race mare, but her dam was. Out of champion older mare and Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Jewel Princess, Home Court has become a seasoned produced. Having produced ten foals, six are winners, including grade one winner Coup De grace. Offered here on an April 8th cover by Tiznow, the mare should be a good buy.

Hip 100 – Weanling Filly – This Union rags filly belongs to the Belmont Stakes winners’ first crop. Out of the Storm Cat mare Home Court (See Hip 99), the filly is a half sister to grade one winning sprinter, Coup De Grace. The distaff line carries stamina, as does Union Rags. The filly should be able go distances when she grows up.

Hip 188 – Weanling Colt – This Malibu Moon colt should bring a nice price. Out of the Sea Hero mare Sea Jewel, who is a half sister to graded stakes winners Giacamo, Tiago, and Stanwyck, the colt should get some attention. The Malibu Moon offspring always bring nice prices at the sales.

Hip 189 – Sea Jewel – The mare hasn’t proved to be a dynamite producer, but she is from the female family that gave the world Giacamo, Tiago, and Stanwyck. She is offered here, in foal to 2012 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Fort Larned, on a June 4th cover.

Hip 202 – Spice Island – This Tabasco Cat mare has a lot of “old time” pedigree behind her. She is by a Belmont Stakes winner and out of a mare sired by Kentucky Derby winner Alysheba. Spice Island was best known for producing Ice Box, but has yet to again produce the same caliber horse. Offered here, in foal to Animal Kingdom on a March 4th cover, the mare should bring some interest.

Hip 232 – Weanling Filly – This filly is by the high priced Medaglia d’Oro, out of the Gone West mare, Violence Beauty. This mating has worked before, with former Kentucky Derby hopeful, Violence. Violence was undefeated before sustaining an injury in the Florida Derby. This filly is full to Violence.

Hip 294 – Executiveprivilege – offered here through Hill n’ Dale Sales Agency, Executiveprivilege is a half sister to former 2014 Kentucky Derby hopeful, Hoppertunity. The filly was a very accomplished filly while racing, winning multiple graded stakes races. She is offered here on a February 13th cover by Midnight Lute.

Hip 402 – Weanling Filly – This filly should turn every head in the room. She is by likely 2014 Champion sire Tapit, out of the Storm Cat mare, Serena’s Cat. This mare has also produced graded stakes winners Noble Tune and Honor Code. This filly will also have the responsibility of carrying on the Serena’s Song distaff line.

Hip 409 – Silver Bullet Moon – This Vindication mare is out of the Silver Deputy mare, Silverbulletday. The female family has been pretty successful, producing colts like Governor Charlie and Shakin It Up. Silver Bullet Moon produced the Midnight Lute stallion, Shakin It Up. Silver Bullet Moon is offered here, back in foal to Midnight Lute, on a March 11 cover. The resulting foal will be a full sibling to Shakin It Up.
