Kick off Spring and the 2014 Florida Derby in Pastels

Kick off the Spring Season and the 2014 Florida Derby in Pastels: Celebrate a big win and that Spring is finally here at the 2014 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park. Celebrate in one of the biggest trends of Spring, pastels. We are not talking about your little girl Easter dress pastels or Queen Elizabeth pastels, this season, pastels take a full on modern woman vibe. Baby blue, pink, and mint are especially on point.

What to wear to Florida Derby Gulfstream Park

Baby blue, pink, and mint are especially on point for fashion at the 2014 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park.

Celebs have been out and about in pastels showing you how to make the look chicer than ever. Lupito Nyong O wore a beautiful pastel blue to the Oscars and even dubbed it Narobi Blue. Other celebs to look to on how to embrace the pastel trend are Emma Stone and Diane Kruger.

If you are hesitant to go head to toe with your pastels, try a pastel accessory. Try the great hydrangea blue dress pictured below or the great mint dress. Another great option is a beautiful pastel blue lace dress. For a fun and non-conventional option try the great pastel pink jumper from J.Crew.

For accessories try a great pair of pastel drop earrings or pastel jeweled ring. Keep your shoes nude or metallic or even go pastel with your shoe, like wedges or strappy mint heels. Just make sure to stay away from black, which can read as too harsh against the soft pastels. Have fun and go with a pastel fascinator as well. If you are a really daring girl, you can even rock pastel in your hair. You can do it all over like Kelly Osbourne or just put a streak of pastel in your hair with hair chalk for just a subtle flair of pastel fun.

No matter which pastel trend you choose, you’ll be sure to look fresh and chic at Gulfstream Park for the 2014 Florida Derby in this year’s pastel trend.

Fashion Fun: Gulfstream Park will hold it’s annual Florida Derby Hat Contest in the walking ring at approximately 4:00 PM (after the call to post for the 8th race) on Saturday, March 29, 2014. Contestants will be judged on style, sophistication and overall appearance. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. girls 2 to12 years have the opportunity to win $100, young ladies 13 to17 years $150, and ladies 18 years and up can win a whopping $750!
