Why So Many Women Feel They Have Nothing to Wear, Explained!

Struggling to Pick an Outfit? It’s Not Your Closet’s Fault

You open your closet, scan through your clothes, and still can’t decide what to wear today? A fashion content creator claims that the issue isn’t with the wardrobe itself, but rather with how you choose your outfit.

Turning a Bedroom into a Disaster Zone in Five Minutes

It only takes five minutes to turn a tidy room into a disaster area. Jeans end up draped over a chair, a sweater tossed onto the bed, a shirt gets shoved back into the closet, and eventually, you find yourself wearing the same or almost the same outfit as yesterday. The familiar lament “I have nothing to wear” echoes yet again. However, upon closer inspection, most closets are overflowing with clothes. From impulse buys to the “just in case” items and the essentials accumulated over the years, the problem is seldom a lack of options. In fact, it’s usually quite the opposite.

Online, fashion advice on how to dress better without buying more is increasingly popular. In a time when prices are rising and many are aiming to consume more consciously, the idea of maximizing what you already own is very appealing. Videos focused on organizing wardrobes, pairing colors, or maintaining minimalist closets are racking up millions of views. Yet despite the plethora of tips available, many still find themselves stuck each morning staring at their wardrobe.

A Simple Trick from a TikTok Fashion Guru

Fashion content creator Sarra, known on TikTok as @roseandmusc, believes the problem lies in not knowing where to start when looking at one’s wardrobe. “And for that, I have a trick,” she shares. Interestingly, buying a new piece of clothing often validates her method. After purchasing a new item, outfit ideas seem to flow effortlessly. You can easily imagine multiple outfits and occasions to wear it. However, a few weeks later, the inspiration fades and the indecision returns.

The trick, she reveals, is to focus on just one item. “Simply pick one piece that you really want to wear. Then build your outfit around that item,” Sarra advises. This could be a pair of jeans you love, some sneakers, a blazer, a skirt, or even a plain white T-shirt. Once you’ve made that choice, everything else tends to fall into place more easily. You adjust the textures, colors, and shapes, and soon enough, you’re all set.

When All Else Fails, Go Monochrome

Sarra also has a backup plan for days when inspiration is particularly scarce: opt for a monochrome outfit. “Another tip, if you’re unsure what to wear, a monochrome look always works well; it always makes an impact.” During one of her video shoots, she chose a kaki bomber jacket paired with matching cargo pants, and the result was an immediate hit with her followers. Truly inspiring.
