In early March, a townhouse converted into a pop-up shop became the scene of a fashion revelation, presenting what appeared to be a fresh, creative fashion label. The racks were adorned with well-tailored spring pieces, crafted from quality materials and featuring contemporary silhouettes, including various shades of burgundy—a dominant color this spring. The setup did not resemble that of a typical mass-market clothing brand. The simple idea was to gauge reactions to the unbranded, unlabeled apparel.
Guests engaged deeply, taking their time to try on garments, make comparisons, and share their thoughts on the style, quality, and design. The overall vibe matched what you might expect from an up-and-coming brand, presumably with higher-than-average pricing. The collection featured flowing dresses, coordinated ensembles, and updated basics—easy-to-wear pieces with a distinct fashion flair designed to catch the eye. All of this was set against a minimalist and meticulously arranged backdrop, far from the typically cluttered displays of the store, where clothes often overwhelm the racks and patience is required to find just the right item.
After making their selections, participants were invited to move to another room to see behind the scenes—and here’s where the experience got really interesting. The purportedly featured designer, “Kim Parr,” doesn’t actually exist. In fact, “Kim Parr” is an anagram of Primark. The clothes in the pop-up shop were identical to those available in regular stores, but with a crucial twist: the pricing. Items started at just 7 euros. This price point makes it feasible to refresh one’s wardrobe with new spring items, including the noted burgundy jacket, without breaking the bank.

Jermaine Lapwood, Primark’s Director of Innovation, explained the concept: “Kim Parr was invented to playfully challenge preconceptions by leveraging the element of surprise when an item looks high-end but is, in fact, surprisingly affordable.” He added, “By removing the Primark name and allowing people to experience our collection in an unexpected setting, they could really see for themselves our standout style and quality, free from any preconceived notions.” The collection, named “Scandalously Chic,” features easy-to-mix pieces, current cuts, and budget-friendly prices.

Through this initiative, Primark primarily highlights the idea that one can dress stylishly without spending a lot.
