Enjoy homemade creamy vanilla ice cream, made without an ice cream maker and speckled with crunchy, colorful Smarties. This recipe is simple to make, delightful for both kids and adults, and uses basic ingredients.
Ingredients
– 6 servings of ice cream
– Vanilla: 1 pod
– Eggs: 2
– Smarties: 1 box
– Full-fat liquid cream: 25 cl
– Vanilla sugar: 6 tbsp
Preparation
1. Prepare the Vanilla Base
– Split the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds.
– Separate the egg whites from the yolks.
– Whisk the yolks with 5 tablespoons of vanilla sugar and the vanilla seeds until the mixture is light and creamy.
2. Whip the Cream and Egg Whites
– Whip the cold liquid cream into a firm chantilly cream.
– Gently fold it into the egg yolk/vanilla mixture using a spatula.
– In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites to soft peaks, adding the remaining tablespoon of vanilla sugar, and then carefully fold them into the main mixture.
3. Add Smarties and Mould
– Roughly chop the Smarties.
– Place some at the bottom of the ice cream molds, pour in the prepared mixture, then sprinkle more chopped Smarties on top to ensure they are on both sides.
– Insert the sticks.
Freezing and Enjoyment
– Freeze the ice creams for at least 12 hours to ensure they set properly.
– Once fully frozen, unmold and enjoy your creamy, crunchy treat!
