Horse Racing Nation’s Prospect Watch is dedicated to tracking early-stage racehorses who were high-priced purchases at their most recent auctions or are related to graded-stakes winners.
This week, let’s examine some of the 65 noteworthy horses scheduled to race.
Monday
Ellis Park entries, race 7.
In a one-mile turf race for 2-year-old fillies, several promising horses are scheduled to run. Among them, El Joury, a filly by Medaglia d’Oro and half-sister to the Grade 2 champion Aspray, is making her first appearance under the guidance of trainer Brendan Walsh for Shadwell Stable, beginning from gate three with odds of 9-2. Aspray, a progeny of Quality Road, triumphed in the 2023 Lake Placid under trainer Chad Brown and last competed at the Beaugay Stakes (G3) in May at Aqueduct, finishing fifth.
Another notable entrant, Les Is Best, sired by Catholic Boy and half-sister to the multiple Grade 1 victor Stephanie’s Kitten, is trained by Eric Foster for Maxis Stable and Foster Family Racing. She debuts from post seven with morning line odds of 20-1.
Friday
Saratoga entries, race 1.
Opening the Friday races, Ice Cream Boat, a 2-year-old filly by Outwork, is set to debut for trainer Todd Pletcher and owner Mike Repole. She is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Chocolate Gelato, who notably won the 2023 Frizette for the same team. Chocolate Gelato also participated in the 2023 Alabama (G1), finishing tenth and has not trained since October 2023.
Saturday
Ellis Park entries, race 7.
Waterseeker, a 3-year-old filly by Divining Rod and half-sister to the 2021 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) champion Aloha West, will debut in a turf sprint. She is coached by Robert Medina and represents Bradley Thoroughbreds, Laura Leigh Stable, Scott Estes, and Cambron Equine.
Sunday
