Queen Consort of Denmark’s Winning Strategy: Elevating Simple Outfits with Sharp Details
On December 5th, Mary of Denmark hosted a festive event at King Frederik VIII’s palace, where she showcased a look that blended various fashion styles.
Mary of Denmark: 30 Photos Charting the Fashion Evolution of the Ultra-Chic Queen
Every year, the Queen orchestrates a Christmas reception to express gratitude to the partners of the Mary Foundation for their contributions. In Copenhagen, her guests embraced a dress code that was both elegant and relaxed, a style also adopted by Frederik X’s wife. Instead of opting for a grand gown or royal regalia, Mary of Denmark chose a simpler outfit, which was elevated by highly stylish details.
Firstly, attention was drawn to her navy blue wool sweater from Chloé. At first glance, the sweater appeared understated, but it featured a unique twist that made all the difference: scalloped cuffs adorned with the embroidered monogram of the French luxury brand. A large blue necklace with sparkling pearls and a delicate butterfly lay on the round neckline of the sweater.
For the lower part of her outfit, Mary of Denmark chose a midi skirt she had previously worn, including during a visit to Rome in 2018. Pleated and flared, the skirt featured an unusual animal print. The caramel-colored piece was decorated with a blue leopard pattern, echoing the color of her necklace.
Born in Australia, she also matched her earrings to her skirt with a pair of dangling earrings, enhanced by a moka-colored stone. Finally, black pumps beautifully completed the charming look of the 53-year-old star!
