Here’s How to Wear Your Jewelry in 2025, According to an Expert
Minimalism has been a reigning trend in fashion for a long while. However, the current wave sweeping the fashion world is “loud luxury,” a nod to maximalism. This shift suggests it’s time to either set aside your minimalist jewelry or mix it with more statement pieces. But how exactly should one approach this? According to Margaux Gripon, the founder of Okan Studio, “There are no rules. The key is to achieve harmony and make a statement,” she tells Femme Journal. You can’t really go wrong, yet starting out may seem daunting. Here are some expert tips to master this year’s trending jewelry layering technique.
Mixing Metals is a Must
Forget the old notion that gold and silver should not be mixed! What was once considered a fashion faux pas has, in recent years, become the style to embrace. Mixing metal colors not only allows you to wear your favorite pieces together but also adds a vibrant touch to any outfit. So, don’t hesitate to boldly mix different metals and jewelry styles!
When it comes to necklaces, there are tricks to nailing the perfect layering look. It’s best to start with a choker and then work your way down with progressively larger necklaces. You can mix various types of necklaces, such as pearl, pendant, or even those studded with gemstones, which add a pop of color and whimsy. There’s also a handy technique to prevent these necklaces from tangling — simply clasp them together!
Stacking Rings and Earrings
With rings, you can’t go wrong either. Whether they are small or oversized, feel free to mix them up and wear them across all fingers! However, Margaux Gripon advises letting significant pieces stand out: “If I’m wearing a very bold ring, like a knuckle ring, I’ll generally leave it by itself and have fun stacking on the other hand to highlight the ring. Some rings are quite bold and lose their impact with too much stacking,” she shared with us.
As for earrings, layering them with ear cuffs is entirely possible! The jewelry designer suggests starting with asymmetry to gradually step out of your comfort zone. “For a unique look that you won’t see anywhere else, I recommend playing with asymmetry and stacking different pieces. Often, I suggest wearing an ear sculpture on one side and an ear cuff on the other,” she explains.
Bracelets and Cuffs: Mix and Match
Similarly, when it comes to bracelets, cuff bracelets are the current trend. Don’t hesitate to grab some bold bracelets and mix them with more minimalist ones. Here too, you can blend different colors and textures to create a look that’s uniquely yours!
Fashion in 2025 embraces the bold, the blended, and the beautiful. With these expert tips, anyone can master the art of jewelry layering and create personalized, standout styles that shine in any setting.
