What might have seemed like a big joke a few months ago now turns out to be a genuine fashion step forward. A well-known hard discount retailer, primarily recognized for its grocery items, this popular European supermarket chain decided to venture into the exclusive fashion industry just a few weeks ago. Breaking traditional norms, this move has sparked a lot of discussions. And no, it’s not Lidl hosting its usual Fashion Week, but rather its top competitor, Aldi.

While Lidl had dabbled in fashion a few years back—fashion enthusiasts might recall the loudly colored blue-yellow-red sneakers that broke the internet—its rival took a bit longer to make the leap. The year 2026 marks a new chapter: Aldi now offers its own limited-edition collection in France. Designed specifically for the summer season, this collection could inspire new business avenues for the brand, especially since unlike Lidl, Aldi does not have a permanent clothing line. Although the German chain had previously entered the apparel market in Belgium in 2025, it had not yet tapped into the French market.

This exclusive collection features about ten summer wardrobe essentials: bucket hats, caps, t-shirts, socks, sliders; all enhanced by the brand’s famous colors (blue, red, white) and the iconic triangular logo featuring Aldi’s “A.” As expected, the pieces maintain the retailer’s commitment to low pricing, with no item exceeding 6 euros, according to our colleagues at LSA.

Already launched in Belgium with more items since June 21st, the Aldi-branded pieces will be available for sale on July 18th in 1300 stores across France. Just a little more patience is required!
