Fashion and sports might seem like distant worlds, but they’re closer than you might think. Whenever a major championship kicks off, these two realms merge and set the trend. Let’s delve into how this happens.
Formula 1: The Fashionable Circuit
An essential event for motorsport enthusiasts, Formula 1 resumed on March 16th in Melbourne and made its usual stop in Monaco. This event is a must-see where celebrities, influencers, and even royalty gather, turning the race track into a real fashion runway. Indeed, F1, much like Roland-Garros, extends far beyond the sports realm to influence fashion trends.
From Teen to Glamour Icon: The Fashion Journey of Louane
Come early May, the tennis spirit takes over wardrobes: pleated skirts, polo shirts draped over shoulders, and white sneakers dominate. This “tenniscore” style is prevalent, but just as you get used to it, a new fashion wave crashes in with the arrival of the F1 season. Out come the oversized racing jackets, bomber jackets, and a rockier, edgier look. Mini-skirts are swapped for paddock-inspired apparel, transforming the fashion landscape almost overnight.
Celebrities like Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Rosalia, and Kylie and Kendall Jenner embrace this trend annually, donning their finest Formula 1 jackets. In 2023, Louane was spotted wearing a large black and blue leather jacket at the premiere of the movie “That Summer!”

This stylistic revival is also driven by cinema. The movie “F1,” starring Brad Pitt, has further fueled this frenzy, much like the film “Challengers” did with Zendaya during Roland-Garros 2024.
It’s no surprise to see both haute couture houses and ready-to-wear brands embracing this style in their collections. For instance, Maje recently teamed up with Hot Wheels to launch an ultra-trendy clothing line. Brands are also collaborating with F1 drivers, who have been thrust into the spotlight in recent years. Notably, Charles Leclerc has become an ambassador for APM Monaco, and Lewis Hamilton has recently partnered with Lululemon.
The Current It-Girls from the Racing World
Today’s it-girls also come from this milieu. Notably, Alexandra Saint Mleux, the partner of Charles Leclerc, has been making headlines this year. Her elegant and refined style is an inspiration to fashionistas everywhere!
