Gulfstream Park Opening Day December 1
Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino will celebrate opening day on Saturday December 1, 2012.
South Florida’s premier racing facility Gulfstream Park begins its season on Saturday December 1, 2012. Fans from all over the world will attend opening day at this winter horse racing landmark. Post time on Saturday is at 12:45 PM EST. Lady and The Track is based just North of this gorgeous racetrack and we highly recommend a visit!
Opening day at Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino begins with a family friendly breakfast for horse racing fans from beginners to pros. A buffet breakfast is set for the public to enjoy while thoroughbreds run scheduled morning workouts. Special guests will be on hand for meet and greets in addition to Sandy Bruno, Joe Bravo, and Larry Collmus. Guests who attend the buffet from 7:00am-10:00am will receive a t-shirt and the chance to tour Gulfstream Park with Sandy Bruno.
Opening day isn’t the only exciting day around Gulfstream. Gulfstream Park will host the 2013 Eclipse Awards. The National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced that the 42nd annual Eclipse Award ceremony will take place in Hallandale Beach on January 19, 2013.
The Gulfstream team is thrilled with the opportunity to host the Eclipse Awards. “We look forward to hosting a weeklong series of events culminating with the Eclipse Awards and a great holiday weekend of racing and entertainment,” said Tim Ritvo, President and General Manager of Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino. “We are committed to making this a memorable Eclipse Awards for all who attend and for all of our racing fans in South Florida.”
“Next January’s event will incorporate an exciting series of fan-friendly components that will allow many more people to be a part of an event honoring excellence in Thoroughbred racing,” said Alex Waldrop, President and CEO of the NTRA.
The $1.3 Florida Sunshine Million will run on Saturday January 19 as a prelude to the Eclipse Awards.
Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino has been operating since 1939. The main track is 1 1/8 miles and the turf course is seven furlongs (for my beginners that’s 4,620 feet). Gulfstream Park is home of the $1,000,000 Florida Derby. If you need a change of scenery from the beach or the horses, there is also a casino on-site where you can play slots, poker, and find all the casino action any high roller dreams of! Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino really does have it all!
