Belmont Derby Invitational 2015: Posts, Odds, Events- The 2015 Belmont Derby Invitational is held each year at Belmont Race Track, an important facet of the New York Racing Association. This year’s Belmont Derby Invitational falls on the Fourth of July, so Belmont will be celebrating July 4 with their second annual Stars and Stripes Festival. This Festival will highlight some of America’s top turf runners in competition and will also offer giveaways, a post-race concert, and family-friendly activities throughout the day.

What to do at the 2015 Belmont Derby Invitational…

Gates will open at 11:00 a.m., and the first race is scheduled for 12:30 p.m on the 4th of July at Belmont Park. There are six graded stakes races total that day offering over $3.25 million in purses with the Belmont Derby Invitational serving as the highlight of the race day. This Grade I race for three-year-olds at 1¼ miles on the turf track is worth a hefty $1.25 million.

All fans attending the races and the Stars and Stripes Festival at Belmont Park will be eligible to receive a complimentary baseball cap to commemorate the festivities but will only be handed out while supplies last. There will also be a food truck festival that will host some of New York’s premier food trucks. The backyard of Belmont is also planned to draw attention through various activities, including some activities for children. The post-race concert will be put on by Switchfoot, a Grammy award-winning alternative rock band. Tickets can be purchased on the NYRA website, NYRA.com.

What to wear to the 2015 Belmont Derby Invitational…

For Stars and Stripes day, you will definitely want to look festive and celebratory, but this doesn’t mean you have to cloak yourself in all red, white, and blue. Instead, try pops of red, white, or blue with one of summer’s hottest trends, denim. This season’s denim is off the beaten path, done in patchwork or darker denim color-blocked with lighter denim or embellished. If you can’t find patchwork or color-blocked pieces, just try pairing a darker denim piece with a lighter denim piece, like dark denim skinny jeans paired with a lighter chambray top.

Pair your denim with a white shoe and a red lip or a red shoe with a pop of white, like a clutch or crisp oxford shirt, and you will look festive in red, white, and blue without looking like you’ve donned a costume. Your look will be festive, chic, and patriotic for a fun day at Belmont Park.
