Latest Kentucky Derby 2015 News: Contender Updates, Fan Video, Schedule
The big news so far this week is that American Pharoah arrived at Churchill Downs on Monday, April 18, 2015 in an uneventful journey from Hot Springs, Arkansas. Reports reveal that the Zayat Stables colt will only breeze once on the Churchill Downs track in preparation for the 2015 Kentucky Derby. Bob Baffert’s assistant trainer Jim Barnes accompanied American Pharoah to barn 33 and stated that the horse will simply relax and get used to his surroundings.

Kentucky Oaks contender Maybellene made the trek to Churchill Downs with American Pharoah on Monday as well. Shortly after American Pharoah and Maybellene were settled in, Kentucky Derby contender Mr. Z also arrived for Zayat Stables.

Frosted will make his way to Louisville, Kentucky sometime next week. This year, the Godolphin Racing and Team McLaughlin receive a second chance with Frosted, a gray son of Tapit who recently won the Grade I Wood Memorial at Aqueduct.

Danzig Moon earned 40 Kentucky Derby qualifying points in the Blue Grass, and now that he has 45 points overall, his connections want to take a shot at the Derby if he continues to train well. A final decision on his participation in the Kentucky Derby should come late next week.
