Look like a Star at the 2014 Eclipse Awards

It is officially awards season so channel all the glitz and glam of all the celebrities, and incorporate the top red carpet trends into your look for the 2014 annual Eclipse Awards. The glamorous 43rd annual Eclipse Awards takes place in the Sport of Kings Theater at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida on Saturday, January 18th.

2014 Eclipse Awards Gulfstream Park

The red carpet was hot with “Miami Chic” fashion at the 2013 Eclipse Awards at Gulfstream Park.

The Eclipse awards are named after sire Eclipse, an 18th century racehorse that was undefeated in 18 starts. The awards are presented by the Daily Racing Form, the Breeders’ Cup and The Stronach Group and will be celebrating the individual achievements of those who have earned the title of Champion and members of the media for outstanding coverage of Thoroughbred racing, and of course the thoroughbred horses.

The 2014 Eclipse awards dinner takes place at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa and is black tie optional so you don’t necessarily have to wear a full length gown, but you definitely need to pull out all the stops for this red carpet event.

Take inspiration from the recent Golden Globe awards and try out some of the top trends of that evening. My two favorite trends of the evening were red as one of the dominating colors and the metallic shine and embellished looks. Wearing red on the red carpet is for the woman who is bold but also classic. Stars like Amy Adams and Lupita Nyong’o embraced the red trend. The metallic and embellished trend can go two ways, it can be for the effervescent cool girl or it can appeal to the glamorous. Remember that the metallic and embellished trend can be in classic metallic like silver, gold, and rose gold, but you can also embrace the trend in color like Olivia Wilde did. Also check out Naomi Watts and Mila Kunis for metallic done right. Try the gilded dress or a classic red dress from Modcloth. Also check out the J.Crew dress in strawberry or a super chic BCBG metallic sequin gown.

Accessories Tip: Every red carpet this year has been filled with Minaudières. They are essentially clutches that usually have a hard shell and really serve as more of a jewelry piece, as they are usually embellished or metallic, they are meant to resemble a jewel. Carry this in place of your traditional clutch to elevate your look. Try a glittery one or a unique lace one from Modcloth.

Beauty Tip: A night like this definitely calls for a statement lip. Celebrities at the Golden Globes were seen in a range of colors from classic red, to a deep crimson to a strong pink. To ensure that your lipstick is long lasting make sure to exfoliate your lips by gently rubbing a toothbrush over wet lips, then moisturize. To make the color last and to truly stand out, dab a little bit of foundation over your lips, then apply lip liner, and then the lipstick color.

Hair at the awards shows this season had one thing in common, everyone had polished glossy, shiny hair, whether they wore it up or in coiffed curls or sleek and straight. Try Paul Mitchell Fast Form and mix it with a little bit of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum for that sleek glossy look.

Check out Taylor Swift, Zoey Deschannel, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michelle Dockery (all pictured below) for lip and hair inspiration for the 2013-2014 Eclipse Awards.
