Breeders’ Cup Celebrity Style Inspiration

Get inspired by celebrity style with your Breeder’s Cup World Championship Race Day Look

This week on Novemeber 1st and 2nd,  the 2013 Breeders’ Cup World Championship takes place at Santa Anita Park in California. This race is a huge two day event and it is fabulous in every way. Due to its location it is celeb packed and filled with all the glitz and glamour that Hollywood could have to offer. So you want to make sure your race day outfit is just as fabulous as its surroundings. Take your inspiration from fashionable celebrity looks, but also stay true to your own personal style and pick the look that works best for you.

The Edgy/Rocker Look: A lot of celebs embrace the edgy cool girl look. It’s especially quintessential in Los Angeles. Think Kate Moss or Gwen Stefani. For race day keep your outfit appropriate by choosing something feminine, but give it edge by pairing it with a trendy motorcycle leather jacket and a peep toe bootie. Check out the look (shown below) for inspiration. We paired a moto jacket with a full and feminine skirt. I especially like the booties from Steve Madden (shown below), the rough snake skin texture gives a nice rocker touch. Look for a fascinator that is dark and strong rather than soft and feminine to create a unique and bold. I like the green top hat; it has a little bit of a punk vibe.

The Feminine/Vintage Look: Zoey Deschannel embodies this look with her fun and quirky feminine style. This look is also very forgiving on your body as it often involves looks that are cinched at the waist and then flare out, hiding a multitude of body issues. Choose full skirts and dresses that have a 1950’s vibe. If you are really feeling spunky you could even put a tulle petty coat underneath your dress or skirt to give it even more fullness. Dresses with halter necks also really lend to the feminine vintage vibe. I like the dress shown below from Modcloth. Pair your dress with a feminine sparkly heel. Make your hair soft and don’t forget a bold red just like Zooey often does. Dita Von Teese and Katy Perry also nail the Feminine/Vintage look. Top it off with a fun and quirky hat that keeps the feminine vibe going. I particularly like the “Dream” hat (shown Below) from Fashion at the Races. The pearl detail really adds to the vintage feminine vibe.

The Polished Minimalist: This is for the woman who likes clean lines and favors monochromatic dressing. Think Gwyneth Paltrow. Although this style isn’t loud it’s not for the shy either, it consists of more body skimming outfits. It’s for the no non-sense woman. Designers like Calvin Klein and Victoria Beckham embody this style. Pair a shift dress (shown below) from Banana Republic with oversized sunglasses and a clean makeup look. Make sure hair is sleek, try a pulled back pony tail like Blake Lively’s. Choose a hat or fascinator that is a little bolder to spice up your sleek simple look. Let your hat be the showpiece. I like the amazing custom feather fascinator.

The Glamour Queen: This is for the woman who loves to look luxurious and fabulous. Jennifer Lopez embodies this look. This woman is always dressed to the nines and never leaves the house without being fully made up. You don’t care if its daytime you want to go full out, think shine, sparkle, glitz, metallic, leather and even fur if you are really daring. I like the Fab Fatale dress from Modcloth. It’s formfitting and shiny, which adds glamour to your look. Pair it with a metallic smoky eye and a nude lip like Kristen Stewart. Top it off with a hat that looks luxurious too, like a small beret from Fashion at the Races. It looks luxe in metallic brocade.
