Zucchini Pie with a Twist
The zucchini pie is one of my top choices when it comes to savory pies. Inspired by fond memories of my time in the USA, I decided to add a unique twist by incorporating a signature ingredient—pecan nuts. This combination turned out to be a delightful taste sensation!
Ingredients
For 6 servings:
– 1 ready-made pie crust
– 2 zucchinis
– 1 red onion
– 1/2 cup of pecan nuts
– 2 eggs
– 1/2 cup of heavy cream
– 1/2 cup of grated cheese
– 1 tablespoon of olive oil
– 1 teaspoon of thyme
– 1 teaspoon of salt
– 1 teaspoon of pepper
Preparation

– Cooking time: 35 minutes
1. Preheat the Oven
Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (177°C). Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a pie dish.
2. Sauté Ingredients
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion and sliced zucchinis for about 5 minutes until they start to soften. Spread the sautéed vegetables evenly over the crust and sprinkle with pecan nuts. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, grated cheese, thyme, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the vegetables and nuts in the crust.
3. Bake the Pie
Place the pie in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
