She’s chosen a globally recognized model by Adidas. Created in 1969 and introduced to the public a year later, these sneakers were originally made for basketball. Today, they are a bona fide fashion icon! Much of their iconic status can be credited to the hip-hop culture. The American music group Run-DMC, the first to sign a deal with a sportswear brand, famously highlighted the white sneakers with the three black stripes in their hit “My Adidas.” Furthermore, the model gained popularity through characters in movies, like Eddie Murphy’s role in Beverly Hills Cop (1987), and has been sported by rappers, models, and other celebrities.
Adidas Superstars have successfully carved out a spot in fashion history. A design initially intended for basketball players is now a must-have item in anyone’s wardrobe for back-to-school—and Angèle agrees.
In a recent post on her Instagram account, she shared some snaps wearing the famous white sneakers with black stripes, paired with a matching black jacket adorned with the signature white stripes of the German brand. In another picture, she sports the same model in black, complete with matching white socks.
Angèle’s Enduring Love for Adidas
This isn’t the first time the artist has showcased footwear from the brand. A few months earlier, she was seen wearing another iconic model from Adidas: the Gazelles. Part of a collaboration with Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny, Angèle has been wearing these since last year and has made them a staple of her wardrobe.
