Valérie Trierweiler Embraces Change in Fashion and Life
Valérie Trierweiler recently spoke to Gala about her new book, “C’est pour une amie: manuel à l’usage des quinquas,” co-authored with Constance Vergara, where she discussed the transitions women face as they age.
In the interview, Trierweiler shared insights on how women over fifty experience significant life changes, including menopause and shifts in relationship dynamics. She also touched on how perceptions of love evolve during this stage of life. From a fashion perspective, the former First Lady of France revealed how her style has transformed post-fifty. “You start to let go of contradictions and ambivalences. You might desire Monica Bellucci’s curves and Angelina Jolie’s slimness,” Trierweiler commented. She also mentioned adopting a new fashion habit: “I started wearing jeans after turning fifty. I hadn’t worn them since I was 16!” Now at 60, Trierweiler has shifted her focus towards comfort, moving away from the sharp heels and tailored suits of her thirties, which she wore to project seriousness in her journalistic career.
Stylistic Reinvention During Her Time as First Lady
During her early fifties, while serving as France’s First Lady, Trierweiler underwent a style transformation with the help of her stylist, Amor Ouni. Ouni, who has worked with international stars like Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Madonna, provided the reassurance and expertise she needed. “I think it was more comforting for her to have a professional by her side,” he told Madame Figaro.
Trierweiler’s fashion goal was to embody a “normal chic” First Lady, a look she successfully achieved, redefining her public image through her wardrobe choices under the guidance of her trusted stylist.
This phase of Trierweiler’s life highlights her journey not only in adapting to age-related changes but also in embracing a new chapter of life with confidence and grace.
