She’s Dominated Every Runway: The Must-Have Trend for the New Season
As we approach the back-to-school season, the topic of refreshing our wardrobes often comes up. This typically means setting aside our swimsuits and chic beachwear for another year… or does it?
This year’s standout color trend, reminiscent of summer vibes, is poised to become the color of the year and offers a fantastic way to kick off the new season with style. One thing is clear: it’s going to be everywhere. Major fashion houses showcased this color in a variety of looks across their recent runway shows. According to TagWalk, the fashion-focused search engine, there has been a 160% increase in the use of this color on the Resort 26 runways compared to last year. Notable brands revitalizing this shade include Chanel, Fendi, Alberta Ferretti, and Louis Vuitton.
By the end of 2024, during the Spring/Summer 2025 Fashion Week, this color was already making waves at the shows of Miu Miu, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Burberry, and Versace, just to name a few. While it’s not the easiest color to wear due to its eye-catching nature, it certainly adds a vibrant splash to any outfit. And yes, we’re talking about orange!
Two years ago, in 2024, Pantone’s Color of the Year was Peach Fuzz, a very light and soft orange. Today, it’s a bolder orange that’s taking center stage. Surprisingly, despite its popularity over the years, it has never been named Pantone’s Color of the Year. Could this be its year, especially with cultural landmarks like the release of “Avatar 3: Of Fire and Ashes”? We’ll have to wait until December 2025 to find out.
Mastering the Orange Trend Just in Time for Back-to-School
In the meantime, here are some tips to wear orange flawlessly and be ready for the new school year, as orange is quickly becoming the new black! Firstly, this warm color pairs beautifully with subdued tones such as ecru, beige, or light brown. Of course, you can also wear it with white and black, or any other color depending on the shade you choose.
If you’re hesitant about this bold color, start with accessories such as a bracelet, a belt, a hat, or a bag. Then, perhaps move on to a sweater or a blazer.
Embracing this sunny, energetic color can keep the spirit of summer alive, even as we transition into the fall season. Whether you’re updating your wardrobe or just adding a few key pieces, orange might just be the perfect choice to make a statement this year.
