Del Mar plays for Saturday, August 9th, 2014

Del Mar plays for Saturday, August 9th, 2014: Del Mar is a race track that offers great values especially on Saturday, when we usually see full fields; however patience is the key to success at Del Mar. Del Mar Saturday, August 9th, 2014 is a really tough card, so I’m just picking the horses I’ve been following and also that I’m more confident.

Race #2: 7 – Snuggley Bear 5/2

This horse has been facing really tough horses during his career like Indianapolis, Midnight Hawk, Bayern, Hoppertunity, and Coup de Grace. I think it’s time for him to break the maiden, and then look for important races in California. Snuggley Bear reminds me of Big Cazanova. He has been working steadily and looks ready to beat this field. You can use him as a single.

Del Mar Picks and Plays

Sigi’s picks and plays for Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Del Mar include the La Jolla Handicap.

Race #4: 6 – American Pharoah 5/2

I’ve been following American Pharoah since last month when he was entered in a maiden special weight race but he was scratched. He also was mentioned in the article “Two years old to watch: First time starters of the weekend.” It looks like the reason of the scratch was nothing serious because he has been working very well and looks ready to win. You can use him as a single, or play him on top for exotic purposes.

Race #5: 1 – Argyle Cut 7/2

Argyle Cut’s last two races were pretty good, second behind Home Run Kitten on June 21st , with some troubles in the stretch, and his last race losing by a neck behind Enterprising. Argyle Cut is a good play because he is the kind of horse that always offers good value. You can play him some bucks to Win-Place.

Race #7: 12 – Classy Ava 10/1

Classy Ava bobbled at the start in her last race and lost all the chance to win. If you watch the replay of her race on May 10th at Santa Anita, she looked very impressive winning by 3 ¼ lengths with an excellent speed figure for a maiden race. She recorded several good works in Del Mar, so the surface should not be a concern. Classy Ava will offer a good value, so you can play her to win-place-show.
