As the Chinese Year of the Dragon gives way to the Year of the Snake, I’m excited to share a fun appetizer: “Snake Eyes” deviled eggs, perfect for celebrating the new zodiac animal.<\/p>\n
This recipe is tasty, unique, easy to prepare, and sure to be a hit at your gathering. If you’re a fan of deviled eggs, this is a must-try.<\/p>\n
– 12 Eggs
\n– 140g Drained canned tuna
\n– 1 tbsp Mayonnaise
\n– 1 tsp Dijon mustard
\n– 2 tbsp Chopped parsley
\n– Pinch of salt
\n– Pinch of pepper
\n– 6 Hard-boiled eggs
\n– 60g Cream cheese (like Philadelphia)
\n– 1\/3 tsp Turmeric
\n– 1 Sheet of Nori seaweed
\n– 2 tbsp Finely chopped chives (or dill)
\n– 1 tsp Sunflower oil<\/p>\n
1. **Prepare the Tuna Filling:**
\n In a bowl, mix the drained tuna with mayonnaise, mustard, and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste.<\/p>\n
2. **Prepare the Eggs:**
\n Peel the eggs and slice them in half lengthwise. Separate the whites from the yolks.<\/p>\n
3. **Prepare the Yolk Mixture:**
\n Grate the egg yolks using a fine grater, place them in a bowl, and mix with the cream cheese and turmeric until smooth and well combined.<\/p>\n
4. **Assembly:**
\n Fill the cavities of the egg whites with the tuna mixture. Top with the yolk mixture, spreading it across to form a smooth dome. Use a knife to even out the surface. Cut a thin strip of Nori approximately 3 mm wide in an arc shape, matching the length of the egg, and place it near the edges to mimic the eye’s outline, leaving about 5 mm free. If the Nori doesn’t stick, you can moisten it slightly with water. Then, fill the space between the egg edge and the Nori with finely chopped chives using a knife. Cut out iris shapes from the Nori and place them on the eggs. To make the eyes shine, brush the iris with a bit of oil using a toothpick.<\/p>\n
