Gemologist 2012 Kentucky Derby

The undefeated Gemologist will arrive at the 2012 Kentucky Derby with a perfect record. Gemologist will be the 23rd racehorse in history to arrive in Louisville with a flawless racing season.

Trainer Todd Pletcher has high hopes for Gemologist at Churchill Downs on May 5th. Gemologist’s undefeated season includes the recent $1 million Wood Memorial at Aqueduct. Gemologist won the Wood by just a nose but he dominated the field in a very impressive way. Once in the lead, Gemologist seemed to play around and lollygag, waiting for someone to catch up to him. Once Alpha was hot on his trail, Gemologist forced full speed to the finish line.

Gemologist is said to be in prime fitness level. Todd Pletcher stated, “When he came back, he wasn’t blowing like an exhausted horse. I think his fitness level is pretty good. He hasn’t shown that he gets tired.”

Gemologist is owned by WinStar Farms, who also owned the 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver and was trained by Todd Pletcher. Experienced jockey Javier Castellano is confident in Gemologist’s abilities for the May 5th Kentucky Derby and feels the racehorse is only going to get better.

Lady And The Track would like to wish trainer Todd Pletcher, Jockey Javier Castellano, WinStar Farms, and the gorgeous Gemologist the best of luck in the 2012 Kentucky Derby.
